How do you steam your face without a facial steamer?

I have tryed to steam my face but i dont think im doing it right or its not working. I have boiled water put it in a bowl and stood over it for 5min with a towel over my head and it only makes my face semi wet.

That's the point - steaming should not make your face very wet. Its the hot steam that opens pores, not water.
